 If this video doesn't make you think twice about joining the military I don't know what will. It features a C-130 gunship flying low out over the ocean during a training or test mission. The gunship fires off a bunch of what I assume to be flares from either side and bottom of the aircraft. The flares streak fire and smoke in a star pattern and they just keep going and going and going like the energizer bunny. First they fire a one second burst and then they fire a ten second burst a few seconds later. Sweet.
