So here we have a six year old kid who solves a rubik's cube in 37.89 seconds flat. It looks like he has some kind of rubik's cube time monitor touch pad which counts exactly how long it takes them. It looks like it is probably some international (or World Record) standard pad because I saw a similar video with the same timing device. Anyway the video is just amazing how fast this kid can solve the rubik's cube. If you watch his fingers moving he is using all of his fingers to sold the cube. Simply amazing.
For some reason I ended up over at Flickr searching for the word "fire" and this image showed up. From what I can tell it seems to be a guy shaping glass with this plasma torch looking thing. Some of the other images in the series appear to be students shaping glass with similar burners but this image was the best one. It probably isn't called a "plasma torch" but it sure looks like one if you ask me. I think I need one of those things. I'd like to see a video of the plasma torch in action.
In this video we have a two seater fighter aircraft (I assume) which takes off from an airfield. Right during or after takeout a bird flashs through the view of the plane and into the engine. At this point the engine is failing and the pilot and navigator are talking about what to do. They decide that they are going to eject because the engine has basically failed at this point. The plane starts diving before they eject and they have to make a quick ejection from the plane. A few seconds (less than 10) after that the plane goes straight down and boom. End of video. There goes a few million bucks worth of hardware. Game over man, game over.
So the most emailed photo over on Yahoo right now is this artists rendering of a planned glass bottomed walkway over the Grand Canyon. Apparently there is an Indian tribe which owns a pretty good sized chunk of land on the Grand Canyon. They plan on developing around 1,000 acres of it into a tourist destination which will include an Indian village, a Western town, and this walkway out over the Grand Canyon. Personally I think it sounds pretty cool to have the walkway out over the Canyon.
So along with our obscure measuring system (verses the metric system) Americans also use toilet paper. Lots and lots of toilet paper. However, places like Japan and Germany do things a little differently. They have toilets that squirt water up your bum for a good time instead of using toilet paper. If you just can't live without that you can install your own bidet heated toilet seat at home. So the video here is an advertisement for such a seat. I don't see it taking off. Good luck with that one but American's will probably use this as much as the Metric system and that is to say not a lot.
Apparently this video is from a sprintboat race. As far as I can tell a sprintboat race consists of going really fast around a tight water coarse and hoping you don't crash and die. There is a driver and a navigator on the boat and each boat has a roll bar. The water channels that the boats go through are very thin and if you don't make a turn you eat it in the dirt with your boat. Well this video is pretty long and shows a whole bunch of different boats doing various crashs on the sides of the narrow water coarse. There is also a camera clip of one boat successfully completing the coarse. If you watch the video you can see the navigator guy moving his hand to tell the driver which way to turn.
If you've never seen video of a truely big wave this is one to watch. These big waves are way out in the middle of the ocean and in order for surfers to ride them they have to have jet ski's tow them into the wave. The video starts out with a jet ski towing this guy in and you can't really see the size and scope of the wave until the video gets zoomed out a little big. This is a GIANT wave. The guy surfs down the from and through a tunnel which whites out on him. He's still surfing in front of the wave though as the wave collapses behind him in a giant wash of spray. Near the end of the video he is lost to the view of the camera.
Apparently if you work at PayPal you get to have fun with flaming steaks. This video really has nothing to do with PayPal other than one of the guys is wearing a PayPal t-shirt. Anyway there are a bunch of people in a small kitchen. One guy has a frying pan with a steak in it. He pours some flamable liquid on the steak and then lights it with a match. Suffice to say the flame shoots about three feet in the air and he has to pull it off the stove to keep the fire from catching the microwave above it on fire. I'm not sure that's really the right way to make flambe steak. Better head back to that internet site where you got the recipe.
