I found an amusing photo over on Yahoo under their most emailed photos category. Apparently it is from a fashion show in Spain which features a woman in a bikini wearing pirate garb (ARRRRRRRRRRRG!) She has the pirate ship captain hat, a toy cutlass, and an eye patch. Oh yeah and she's wearing a somewhat Caribbean themed bikini. Do you look for excuses to dress like a pirate? While wearing a bikini? Which leads me to pose the question "Is there room for a pirate themed blog with everything pirate on it?".
For some reason I ended up over at Flickr searching for the word "fire" and this image showed up. From what I can tell it seems to be a guy shaping glass with this plasma torch looking thing. Some of the other images in the series appear to be students shaping glass with similar burners but this image was the best one. It probably isn't called a "plasma torch" but it sure looks like one if you ask me. I think I need one of those things. I'd like to see a video of the plasma torch in action.
So the most emailed photo over on Yahoo right now is this artists rendering of a planned glass bottomed walkway over the Grand Canyon. Apparently there is an Indian tribe which owns a pretty good sized chunk of land on the Grand Canyon. They plan on developing around 1,000 acres of it into a tourist destination which will include an Indian village, a Western town, and this walkway out over the Grand Canyon. Personally I think it sounds pretty cool to have the walkway out over the Canyon.
Over on Yahoo one of the most emailed photos right now is this picture of a bionic dolphin. Apparently the submergable is built to look like a dolphin and can travel at 40 mph on the surface and 20 mph underwater. It can hold two people as well but it doesn't say how long it can stay under water or what the battery life on it is. If you ask me it looks like they need to add a windshield wiper because the window is all fogged up and they probably can't even see out of there. It also looks like that to hold two people they would have to be laying down on top of each other.
One of the more recent most emailed photos on Yahoo is this photo of the paraglider championships which took place over the Swiss Alps on Sunday. There must be at least one hundred different paragliders in this photo. It's pretty amazing how clear it is above the snow covered Alps too. There isn't any information in the caption of the photo about how many people were actually paragliding at the event though.
Apparently Scotland has the sword of William Wallace and it has been in Scotland for 700 years. Now for Tartan Day in the United States they are bring the sword to New York to put it on display. This sword isn't just any old sword either. Once you see the full picture of the sword you will see how big it really is. The grip on the sword could easily be twelve to eighteen inchs which would make it a two handed sword (two BIG hands) at least. You wouldn't even be able to draw a sword this big out of a scabard at your side.
So Masterfoods USA decided they didn't want Darth Tater to get all the action and came out with Star Wars M&Ms. The slogan is that these are dark chocolate M&Ms and the pitch being "Go to the Dark Side". The package features M&Ms dressed up as storm (or clone?) troopers and Boba (or Jango?) Fett. They didn't dress Darth Vader up as an M&M though according to the photo of the M&M wrapper. I guess a squat round Darth Vader just wouldn't be the same.
The Belgian chocolate maker Guylian created a giant chocolate Easter Egg in an attempt to get a world record for the largest chocolate egg. There are no dimensions given for the egg but I went into an image program and measured the pixels compaired to the person standing next to it. A rough estimate on how big the chocolate egg is would be around 22 feet high and 18 feet across. My two chocolate rumors that go with this post are that you are suppost to eat chocolate once a month to stay healthy because it has the same positive effects that wine has and secondly most of the cocoa beans in the world which are used to make chocolate are farmed in the Ivory Coast using child labor. You'll have to research those two things yourself on Google though.
