Bill Gates Admits To Infringing Copyrights By Viewing Videos On YouTube

Bill Gates Infringes Copyrights On YouTubeIn a recent Wall Street Journal interview Bill Gates admits to infringing copyrights by viewing 'unauthorized' content on YouTube. The WSJ interviewer drops into RIAA/MPAA propaganda speak and asks Bill if the content was stolen. Bill replies that, no, technically it is copyright infringement. But wait, that's not all, the hypocracy gets even richer. The 'blogger' on ComputerWorld which quotes (technically copyright infringement if you ignore fair use) from the 'paid content' WSJ article complains that the internet is to blame for all of the 'rampant cheating, theft, and stealing'. The comments on his blog take him to task for being such a hypocrite. Here's a hint: If the richest man in the world can fall afoul of overreaching copyright laws they probably need to be scaled back.

Click over and check out the hypocracy of the ComputerWorld 'blogger' and the quote from the WSJ interview with Bill Gates.

Band Pulls A Fake U2 Spoof Event In New York City Before Getting Arrested

U2 Fake StuntA band got togather before the last U2 concert at Madison Square Gardens and pulled a pretty funny protest stunt. They set up all their gear on a roof top in New York City across the street from where the real U2 was going to be playing. They dressed up like U2 and started playing cover songs on top of the roof. Then they had about 75 people run down the street yelling "U2 is playing on the roof" in order to generate a pretty good crowd. At some point the cops showed up and busted them all for causing to much noise. You'll have to read the article (with lots of photos) for the full scoop.

Ten Different Ways To Defend Yourself With A Walking stick

Self Defence With A Walking Stick ArticleHere is a funny article that was published in Pearson’s Magazine in January 1901. The topic of the article is defending yourself with a walking stick or umbrella if someone tries to mug you. It outlines ten different ways you can defend yourself with a walking stick and what to do with your walking stick. I've listed the first five ways (and the article is really long) below and you'll have to click over to the article to read the other five ways plus the paragraphs and paragraphs for each different defence method.

  • The Guard by Distance -- How to Avoid any Risk of being Hit on the Fingers, Arm, or Body by Retiring out of the Hitting Range of your Adversary, but at the same time Keeping Him within the Hitting Range of your Own Stick.
  • Another Way to Avoid being Hit by Retiring out of Range of your Adversary's Stick.
  • Double-handed Stick-play -- Showing the Best Way to Handle with Two Hands a Stick which is too Heavy to Manipulate Quickly with One Hand, when Attacked by a Man Armed with a Light Stick.
  • How to Defend Yourself, without Running any Risk of being Hurt, if you are carrying only a Small Switch in your Hand, and are Threatened by a Man with a very Strong Stick.
  • Another Way to Defend Yourself when your Adversary is Armed with a Stout Stick, and you are Carrying only an Umbrella or an Unreliable Cane.

The article is amusing because it really embodies the English Gentlemen way of thinking back at the beginning of the 20th century.

Check out the whole Defend Yourself With A Walking Stick article.
