Over on NPR they have a short article about the Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museums. One of the things in one of the museums is this elephant head which has (had) two functioning trunks. I don't know if they have the whole elephant preserved or just the head. I'd say the two trunks occured from a natural mutation because I can't think of very many nuclear reactors in Africa except maybe in South Africa. The other interesting thing is that the trunks are one on top of the other instead of side by side as artists usually draw mutations (like double trunks).
So there are people out there that will make anything into a computer case. Case in point this Halloween Pumpkin computer case. They show additional pictures of them creating this pumpkin case (I had thought it might be one of those foam pumpkins you can buy) but it looks like it really is a real pumpkin. As far as I can tell though they did seal it with some kind of lacquer to keep it from rotting (that is why it is all shiny). I wonder how long that thing will last even with the lacquer before it starts rotting from the inside.
So I was reading DrudgeReport this morning and there was this image from NBC2 News in Florida of the Doppler radar on Hurricane Wilma coming ashore. A giant number two appears in the eye of the hurricane. The thumbnail image here shows the number two and they also have a video showing the number two forming in the eye of the hurricane and then disappearing again. They claim there was no image manipulation involved. Now we know for sure that aliens are controlling the weather (hint: this is a joke)!
So over on Yahoo right now the most emailed photo is this photo of a chihuahua in a spiderman costume. Apparently the dog's name is "Guinness" and it is one of 256 chihuahua's that are entered into a chihuahua race to find out what is the fastest chihuahua in America. Seriously, WTF. Have you ever seen a chihuahua race? It consists of half of the dogs running in the opposite direction while the other have run to their owner who is waving some toy or dog treat at the finish line. I have might doubts that the dog that actually wins this is the fastest chihuahua in America.
Apparently in Spain the best way to protest to get what you want is to take all your clothes off and ride around naked which is just what these people did. They are protesting the fact that there are no bike lanes in Madrid, aggressive drivers, and against cars. This was a naked bike protest and just as a warning CRACK KILLS so when you click over to this photo just remember that. I think I'd probably be protesting to if I was a biker and bikers kept getting run over while just minding their own business. Oh yeah, and this is the most emailed photo on Yahoo right now which means people like looking at crack?
If you haven't heard about this you probably live in a cave. The coast guard picked up this floating vintage taxi cab off the coast of Florida trying to get from Cuba to Miami. Apparently the owner or driver of the cab has made multiple attempts using various vehicles and boats to get to the US according to the caption. The running US policy is that if you make it from Cuba to the US you can stay but if you are stopped by the Coast Guard while still at sea they send you back and sink you boat. That's a pretty cool looking boat to bad they probably sank it.
The caption for this car accident (or should I say truck accident) photo is a pun that says "truck almost spilled it's guts". It is a pretty strange photo though. Apparently a diesel was hauling a trailer full of sides of beef hung from the roof of the trailer. The side of the trailer probably got caught on a bridge or some other type of overhang that just ripped the side of the trailer off how you see in the picture. It doesn't mention if there were any other cars involved in the accident. The other ironic thing about it is that it is a freezer truck and they are traveling through the snow.
In this photo the car got in a single car car accident with a parking meter. The accident happened in Iceland and as you can see in the photo the car was going fast enough that it completely ran over the parking meter. The top of the parking meter was knocked off and the front of the car got stuck on top of the parking meter. They are probably pretty lucky the parking meter was there to stop them because right behind it is a glass store front. I don't think they had to be going very fast to get the car stuck up on the meter like that. I would guess it was going maybe 25 miles an hour max.
